This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of MiO Energy for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Everyone with children knows that summer time can get pretty chaotic. Organizing camping trips, nieghborhood bbq's, family get-togethers, and play dates, will suck the energy out of you. That is why I use MiO Energy Liquid Water Enhancer. MiO Energy Liquid Water Enhancer is perfect for any busy mom. It's portable so you can toss it in your purse and take it with you. It is also calorie free and sugar free per 8oz serving and is good source of vitamine B. It comes in two great flavors: Green Thunder and Black Cherry. I'm not too fond of the green thunder, however, I can't get enough of the black cherry. Not only does it taste great, but it gives me the energy I need to keep up with the chaos of summer.

MiO Energy also has a fun Facebook Photo Generator Tool. Chek out the MiO cover photo that I created for my own facebook page.

My FREE end table!

/ /
I'm almost embarrassed to show you this photo but here is what our end table used to look like.

It was becoming a dumping ground for random objects.
It is too short, has no storage and was just not working.
I have been on the search for a new end table for a while now but the ones I found were either too expensive or would not work for our space.
Then one day it hit me!! I could use items that I already have in our home!!
Sometimes it is amazing what you can come up with just by looking at what you have and using a little creativity.
Here is what I came up with and the best part... It didn't cost me a dime!!

The wooden crates were being used for storage in our laundry room but every time I took one down from the shelf it would scrape the bottom and I would have a shower of wood shavings all over the washer and dryer. A few weeks back I switched them out for normal cardboard boxes. Not as pretty but it will work for now and no more wood shavings to clean off the washer and dryer.

The book ends are dragon incense holders that I got from my mom a couple years ago and have been hiding in the garage cause I didn't know where to put them.

The yellow vintage vase used to be black with a pink floral painting on it. I think it may have been worth some money however, it had a large crack in it so it's not worth much now. I painted it yellow to add a pop of color.

The jars hold the kids rock and seashell collections, and the red box contains a tea set.
I love having the extra book storage and being able to showcase a few items that have been tucked into storage is always a bonus.
What about you? do you often look around your home before purchasing new item?

The Secret to 'Faking' a Clean Kitchen.

/ Wednesday, August 22, 2012 /
Many families spend the majority of their time in the kitchen. It is also the one area of the home that you will spend the most time cleaning. However, with the hustle and bustle of today's busy lives, it's hard to find time to keep your kitchen spotless. Here are a few tips that I have used to'fake' a clean kitchen when I don't have the time or energy to actually clean.

  1. Hide the dishes. I hate leaving dirty dishes in the sink. If I don't have time to clean them right away I toss them into a plastic tub then tuck them into the cabinet under the sink. I may even fill the tub partially with water if there are dishes that need to be soaked. If you don't have room under your sink find a decorative basket that will fit on top of your fridge and hide a plastic tub inside. You can also hide dirty dishes in the dishwasher however, this is a great alternative if your dishwasher is already full.
  2. Keep an empty basket handy.Counter tops tend to be a dumping ground for many things. If you have company coming over toss everything into the basket. I store mine on the top shelf of my pantry but you can also tuck it into a cabinet or store it in another room. Be sure to empty the basket after your company leaves or as soon as you have time.
  3. Clean your garbage disposal.Fill an ice cube tray with vinegar and a slice of lemon peel. Keep these handy in your freezer at all times. Before company comes over toss a few vinagar and lemon ice cubes into the disposal with a full jug of water. The vinegare and lemon will get rid of any smell and the water will help wash any remaining food down the drain.
  4. Cover up the stink. Between last nights dinner, the garbage can and garbage disposal, kitchen tend get pretty stinky. Before your company arrives, be sure to take out any trash. Fill a pot with water then toss in some orange peels and cinnamon. Bring the pot to a boil and then let it simmer until your company arrives.
  5. Keep cleaning supplies handy. I keep a small basket with a few rags and all pourpose cleaner in my kitchen. I used to keep it under the sink. However, I got tired of reaching into the cabinet 100 times a day. Now I keep the basket on top of the counter throughout the day. This allows the kids to easily clean up their own messes and helps me stay on top of cleaning throughout the day. The basket gets tucked back under the cabinet when we have company and every evening after dinner. Having everything contained in a basket keeps rags and cleaners from cluttering the counters, and also allows for quick clean up when company arrives.
  6. Spot treat the floor. Using a damp rag take a quick look at your floor and clean up any spots that are highly visible. I usually start off by only cleaning the large spots. Once the rest of the kitchen looks clean and my company has not arrived yet, I will go back and clean up the smaller spots.
  7. Hide the stains. Take a quick look at your kitchen towels. If there are any stains then fold the towels so that the stains are not visible.

Now it's your turn!! What are your 'secrets' for making your kitchen (or home in general) look clean.

Dollar General Corporation is the nation's largest small-box discount retailer. This is due to hassle-free shopping as-well-as offering a carefully edited assortment of the most popular brands at low everyday prices.

Many of you have kids starting school soon or heading off to collage. Why not help them prepare with Back to School Saving from Dollar General.

Dollar General has become one of my go-to places for back to school supplies. There is a variety of items at everyday low prices to help cross off items from the Back to School Lists, and the money I save is an added bounus. Now I can save even more with the changing Back to School mobile coupon available for mobile phones by scanning the QR OR by texting "bts" to 34898 from your mobile phone.

I believe the majority of my 'back to school' money goes towards the little items like glue, tape, crayons and markers. Even though these items don't cost a lot, with two young kids who go through them like crazy, the bills can add up. Did you know that you can by glue by the gallon on thier website? For only $19, a gallon of glue willbe  more than enough for the year. (For those of you thinking a gallon of glue is too much, you must not have a 2 year old with a knack of dumping glue all over the floor and her toys.)

If you have some spare time this week I highly encourage you to check out Dollar General. You will be amazed at thier large selection of products as-well-as the great deals you will find.
